Frequently Asked Questions About Our Healthy Dog Food, Treats and Supplements
Have a question about what makes Angell PetCo.’s dog food and treats better for your dog than any other food, or wondering what you can feed your dog if they’re on a special diet? We’ve compiled the frequently asked questions we get about our range of food and supplements.
There are two factors that make our Superior food, well, superior:
- Angell PetCo’s range of superior food is made with more fresh ingredients.
- These fresh ingredients are cooked gently at low temperatures, at low pressure and with minimal processing to ensure as much of the natural goodness from those fresh ingredients is preserved.
This ensures that every bowl of food served is tastier, palatable and full of nutrition. By starting with more fresh nutritional ingredients, we preserve more goodness from these ingredients and ensure all that goodness is absorbed during digestion. We call it the holy trinity.
Most dry dog food brands start with sub-standard and inferior (read: by-product) ingredients. They then scorch these ingredients at high temperatures — not just once but multiple times. This removes whatever little nutritional goodness they may have had in the first place!
But surprisingly, this is the same for many premium brands too. They may start with better ingredients than your cheaper retail brands (although many don’t), but the same cooking process is used, so the outcome is, well, the same…
A burnt-to-a-crisp, nutritionally devoid bowl of food. Yummy…
Angell PetCo’s range of Superior dog food is extremely hypoallergenic.
Food-related allergies are a result of using ingredients that trigger an allergic reaction, but because our Superior range uses only a small number of the freshest high-quality ingredients and is free from all the common ingredients (allergens) that your dog may react to, we can minimise any allergic reaction in your dog.
Our products are also free from cereals, wheat, gluten, maize, dairy products, soya products, artificial additives and non-nutritional fillers.
We outline the recommended amount of food to give your dog on each product page. Navigate to your chosen dog food and scroll down to reach the “Feeding” section.
We source all our ingredients from the UK if possible, and from Europe if not. We do not believe in creating a larger carbon footprint by importing products from the other side of the world. None of our products are sourced from China. We clearly specify where our meat is sourced — we can guarantee our salmon raw material comes from Scotland, while our trout is English and our lamb is Welsh.
Cod liver oil is made from the pressed liver of the cod, which is the organ that filters toxins. Salmon oil is made from the whole pressed fish. It is a completely natural product that is high in Omegas 3, 6 and 9 and does not contain any preservatives or chemicals.
Angell PetCo.’s Scottish Salmon Oil can help alleviate stiff joints, itchy skin, lacklustre coats, poor circulation, dry cracked paws and other ailments caused by a poor diet or old age. You can see the difference in your dog’s general wellbeing in just two weeks, and the formulation is both hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly.
No, we do not add any Vitamin E to our Scottish salmon oil supplements for dogs. The only reason that a manufacturer would add vitamin E to the formulation would be for preservation, as it does not contribute anything to the dog’s ability to absorb the essential fatty oils.
Angell PetCo.’s complete dry fish-based foods are excellent for dogs with allergies or compromised immune systems. Be very careful not to feed your dog anything with rosemary in it, which has been shown to aggravate epilepsy. Always check the labels and remember that the simplest ingredients are best.
Yes. Our Superior Maintenance range is hypoallergenic (free from any potentially problematic ingredients), low in fat and is easily digestible, making it perfect for dogs with pancreatitis.
Yes. Our Superior Maintenance range is hypoallergenic (free from any potentially problematic ingredients), low in fat and is easily digestible, making it perfect for dogs with colitis.
Itchy skin can be caused by an allergy, so the first thing to do is eliminate wheat! After that, try feeding your dog a fish-based Complete food or add salmon oil, which is full of Omega 3. Omega 3 has been shown to boost the immune system and help protect against all kinds of allergies in dogs, plus it’s good for humans too!
Angell PetCo.’s Complete salmon and potato dog food is designed to give a dog everything it needs for optimum nutrition in the simplest way possible. Dogs in the Northern Hemisphere have survived on fish-only diets for hundreds of years. Fish is an excellent source of protein for dogs; it’s gentle on digestion and low in saturated fat.
Scottish salmon oil contains high levels of Omega 3, which helps to boost the immune system. Because of this, it can lower the risk of allergies in dogs, which can cause skin problems. Bald spots and inflammation usually calm down within three to four weeks. Salmon contains zinc, which is excellent for improving flaky, itchy skin, and you’ll even find that most human anti-dandruff shampoos contain zinc.
